Meesha Shafi is a multifaceted character who is one of the most exciting and edgy Pakistani people and is an icon of Pakistan’s contemporary young generation. Meesha Shafi shines as a star for her parents, who have an extended family tradition of arts, philosophy, culture, and acting. Meesha was born to performer Saba Hameed. Her writing talent comes from her father, Hameed Akhtar, an innovative Urdu writer who was the leader of the “Progressive Writers’ Movement” for several years. Meesha Shafi launched her solo career with her performance in Coke Studio, the now-global music platform. The session performance featuring Pakistani folk icon Arif Lohar has garnered more than 20 million viewers on YouTube alone, which makes it the most-watched Pakistani track ever.

Meesha Shafi has also shown the essence of acting in Bollywood projects, including Pakistani films. She will be seen working in the American film ‘Mustaash,’ which means ‘mustache,’ based on a Pakistani family. Pakistan-born director Imran Jay Khan will direct the film and has also written this film’s story. 

The film will feature Atharva Varma, Alicia Silverstone, Indian-American actor Hasan Minhaj and singer Meesha Shafi in lead roles, along with Rizwan Manjhi and his daughter Ayan Manjhi.

Meesha Shafi will be seen as the lead character, the mother of a 13-year-old Pakistani boy, while Rizwan Manjhi will be the boy’s father.

The story film revolves around a 13-year-old Pakistani boy and his Pakistani parents, and the film will show the American life of the 1990s and the conditions of Muslims at that time.

It has yet to be made clear when the film will be released, but it is likely to be released on an OTT platform by the end of next year.
