Nunam
Audi and Nunam are collaborating to develop a new electric Rickshaw. The new electric Rickshaw is powered by batteries previously used in Audi e-Tron cars, such as the GT sedan and the Sportback coupe SUV. The batteries were sourced from abandoned vehicles and then repurposed into batteries that could work in lighter, smaller cars. These batteries were broken down into 10 kWh blocks that Nunam will utilize in its electric Rickshaw.
Nunam intends to reuse the batteries from the e-rickshaws to run various other appliances that are stationary. Nunam plans to also put up solar charging stations at the premises of its partner so that batteries are constantly replenished. The company’s goal is to extract as much energy from batteries as possible.

AUDI e-Tron
Audi has joined forces in partnership with Indian nonprofit startup Nunam to create three electric rickshaws which run using an Audi e-Tron battery. The new rickshaws are expected to hit the roads of India by the beginning of 2023. The project is being supported through The Audi Environmental Foundation. The e-rickshaws can assist women with transporting their goods and provide a safe mode of transport.
Nunam plans to launch an initial pilot project that will test the electric rickshaws of three different models by 2023. The project will begin in Bengaluru and expand to Mumbai in the coming years. Delhi. Nunam hopes that these vehicles will assist women entrepreneurs in reaching their career goals by promoting female independence in the workplace. However, the company recognizes that many electric rickshaws operating in India are powered by lead-acid batteries and by the coal-dependent electric grids of public utilities.

Tuk-tuks
Electric rickshaws have many advantages over traditional ones. It is lighter and more efficient in fuel consumption. Additionally, it has a lower curb weight. In India, most Rickshaws are powered by lead acid batteries which are less effective than Li-Ion batteries, which are more modern. Utilizing Audi‘s old batteries could also result in a decrease in the weight overall of the automobile.
An Audi e-Tron battery module has been used to provide power to three electric rickshaws across India. The latest prototypes were designed by working with Nunam, an organization that is a nonprofit which has its headquarters located in Bangalore in India, and Berlin. The new rickshaws will be available on Indian roads by the beginning of 2023.
Rickshaws
Audi has joined forces with a company in India named Nunam to develop electric rickshaws running on used batteries. The company has financed the project with the assistance of Audi’s Audi Environmental Foundation. The team has been working closely with Audi’s Neckarsulm site to design prototypes for the electric rickshaws, which are expected to hit the road by 2023.
Three electric Rickshaws run on the old batteries of Audi e-Tron EVs. It is composed of high-dense Li-Ion and is designed to take on the load. This battery pack can boast a distance of 400km.
Battery reuse
An electric rickshaw is powered by batteries left over from an older car. This vehicle could be extremely energy efficient, as the batteries have a large capacity. However, the battery’s lifespan and range diminish as they age, so Audi is considering a recycling option. The Audi E-Tron batteries are expected to power three electric rickshaws in Bangalore. Rickshaws are three-wheeled cars that are associated with India as well as Thailand. Tuk Tuks also refer to them because of the sound they make from their two-stroke motors.
Nunam, a company Nunam has joined forces with Audi e-Tron to use its battery for e-rickshaws that it previously used. The battery used in the Audi e-Tron is a powerful lithium-ion battery, which is believed to have 400 km of range. The company plans to introduce the first electric rickshaws in India by the beginning of 2023.
